"we need weirder queers" yall can't even handle when a gay trans man living in a country that doesn't support his existence makes a silly little comic about his fantasies because it's "unrealistic" and "sexualizes gay men"

I love how this post is getting attention again because it's BACK babey! Boyfriends is back!

this screenshot is from november 25th, 2017. artsyandblack is unfortunately not on IG anymore, otherwise i would link

extremely funny to see a fandom take that is so far out of reality its almost tonedeaf. i saw a post recently that said some shit like "fanfics where a gay ship gets married and has children are enforcing heteronormativity" girl. gay marriage still isnt legal in many parts of the world and is under attack in some places where it is legalized and it is difficult for gay people to be able to adopt and is also illegal/under attack around the world too

same sex marriage is legal in 38 countries and same sex adoption is legal in 37 countries. fuck right off with "marriage is heteronormative" people have died fighting for the right to get married and people are still fighting for it

A PORN BOT UNFOLLOWED ME?

Oh good I'm not the only one who noticed I thought I was going insane. 90% of the stuff that people seem to want to automate with LLMs to 'revolutionise [X] industry' was already being automated much better with bots, which is depressing because before this wave of LLMs we were all complaining about how shitty all the bots make everything when they're used to do things that shouldn't be automated, but now even a misimplemented non-AI bot is a comparative relief.

first you have to remember that the first disco ball was painstakingly put together by hand from nothing but an idea and lots of intricately cut glass and bandaids and then you have to think about the experience of being under a disco ball for the very first time, bathed in reflections of an era that has not yet come to past, and finally you end up wondering what else there is around you that has yet to be unearthed by something with so much as a silly name

I remembered this post a few nights ago while I was out and looking up at this massive disco ball and I needed to find it but I couldn’t so I just googled disco ball and stood there in the middle of the concert floor reading the disco ball Wikipedia entry. anyway did you know that the disco ball is German in origin.

a gross thing i've started noticing is that people are running gifs from old movies and tv shows through AI to sharpen them up, and a clip I know really well suddenly reappears looking like shit. why does spock suddenly look like he's made of plastic. why does xena look like a character in a video game. do people seriously think it looks better? it makes me think of that quote about how the flaws in any medium are eventually what make it iconic—and people are cluelessly using AI in an attempt to "fix" all those flaws, and what they're doing is airbrushing the charm and beauty and originality out of the art.

i really wish it were possible for me to convey how stupid and gormless and pathetic and cringeworthy I think everyone who use AI is.

A dog girl furry with white fur stands holding out a piece of paper to the viewer. She has shoulder length pink hair with bangs, a spiked collar, a pink flannel, a spiked bracelet on the left wrist, and teal jean shorts. She says, "You dropped this, champ," as she hands over the paper. The paper says "You don't gotta go, bitch." In the background, text reads- "Works for: Any Reason. Works On: Transphobic family, homophobic family, racist family, republican-ass, religious ass, bigot family. Whatever. Fuck em!"ALT

A relevant gift for all your holiday needs~

This is a long read, but worth it. Some takeaways:

-Don’t use “buy now pay later.” The fine print isn’t what it seems.

-The fine print on medical financing, store credit cards, and contactless payment is also not what it seems.

-Payday loans are still predatory, even when offered by your employer

-Rewards programs are an income stream for the companies that run them. The points systems are manipulated so that the house always wins. They depend on people leaving money in rewards accounts and not in interest-bearing traditional bank accounts.

-Electronic payment apps like VenMo are not banks. You don’t earn interest. Your money is not protected.

-Your financial information is not private if your money is not kept in a regulated bank.

-None of this is regulated by the FDIC. Your money is not protected if it is held by a non-bank doing banking business. Our economy is not protected from the collapse of financial institutions that are not banks.

-The Biden administration was making progress in increasing accountability for non-banks operating as predatory financial services providers. The current administration is reversing those protections to favor corporations.

Oh boy.

A third of younger Americans hold their savings on nonbank tech platforms like Venmo

PEOPLE! DO NOT LEAVE YOUR MONEY IN VENMO OR APPLE PAY OR ANY OF THIS SHIT. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD GO FIND A REAL BANK OR A CREDIT UNION.

If Venmo were to close tomorrow all your money would vanish. There's no insurance or guarantee on any of these things. I know banks aren't great but legit banks will have the "FDIC insured" logo on their doors and websites, which means if my bank goes under tomorrow I still get my money back. Also I guarantee you there is a credit union somewhere in your town, go find it.

You can leave some money in Venmo or Apple pay or whatever, but NOT ALL OF IT for the love of God.

If you don't want to deal with the large banking industry i get it. Go sign up for a local credit union. They're FDIC insured, your money stays local, and you can personally get to know and talk to your bank.
